Chicago – Storytelling & Photo Collection 2015

I was born in 1992 and grew up in the beautiful city of Novi Sad, Serbia, once part of Yugoslavia. As a kid, I loved watching cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Bugs Bunny, and Duck Amuck. One of my favorite childhood movies was Space Jam with Michael Jordan, who my parents told me was a huge basketball star. Naturally, I dreamed of becoming a basketball player.

I played basketball for years, but eventually had to stop due to health issues. When I realized I wouldn’t make it to the NBA, I turned to the arts, following the footsteps of my grandfather, a painter, and my father, a graphic designer. I declared, “I’m going to be an artist.”

I studied at the High School for Arts and later graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. In the meantime, I became fascinated by American culture; architecture, lifestyle, and music.

In 2015, at the age of 23, I achieved a major life goal: I went to Chicago on a student work & travel program. I told myself, “I’m here to ball like Jordan.” Walking through the streets with music in my ears felt like living in a movie, and I was blown away by the experience.

Photography is one of my artistic passions, and this collection of photos is my way of showing you what I saw and felt at those moments.
